Sister Maria Louise taught in the Diocese of Springfield at Holy Family School and Cathedral High School, Springfield and St. Joseph School, Pittsfield. Meet The Donor. She was at Sacred Heart School, Bennington, VT for close to 30 years, serving as teacher and also as Principal. Sister served as superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Springfield from 1984 to 2005. HOLYOKE - After 117 years, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield are leaving the Mont Marie property in Holyoke. In addition to her sisters in community, she is survived by her cousins, Peggy Ann Bourassa of Woonsocket, RI and Cathy Chenot of Burrillville, RI and by her close friend, Susan McNamee of Tolland, CT. In addition to her Sisters in community, she is survived by her siblings, Adrienne Bagnall of Wilmington, N.C., Rita Van Houten of Orlando, Fla., Jon Van Houten of Easthampton, Mass., and Steven Van Houten of Jaffrey, N.H. An educator in the Springfield diocesan schools throughout her life, Sister Gill taught at Blessed Sacrament, Holyoke and Annunciation, Florence. She will be waked on Friday, February 10 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 11 from 9:00 to 10:30. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald and John Farr. degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms, Chicopee and an M.A. Sister Catherine taught at St. Mark's School, Pittsfield and Sacred Heart and Blessed Sacrament Schools, Holyoke.
